My name is Katie Van Dorn, and I work with my husband and Real Estate partner, Ray Johnson. I grew up in a household infused with Real Estate as my mother was an agent in La Jolla, CA for 30 years. I began my Real Estate career, in 2001, after working for 20 years in Preventive Health Care, having earned a Masters Degree in Exercise Physiology.

You ask “what does health have to do with Real Estate?” With the motto that your health is your wealth and your wealth is your health, the two are essential components in everyone’s life. Just as healthy eating and exercise are integral to maintaining good health; Real Estate plays a critical role in attaining good wealth. I also believe that education and communication are of utmost importance in any process, and strive to study all aspects of Real Estate, business in general, and market trends to provide over the top service. I then work diligently to educate my clients in every step of the Buying and Selling process.

With the personal philosophy that one should practice what one preaches, my husband, Ray Johnson and I have worked hard to “leverage” from our Real Estate investments. We own several multifamily properties that we manage and maintain ourselves. We have also bought, refurbished and sold several older homes throughout the years, with the philosophy that preservation of older homes maintains the valuable character of neighborhoods and the community.

Katie’s partner, Ray Johnson was born and raised in Missoula in 1949, and has seen Missoula grow from a small, relatively poor, rural community to the lovely, cultural Mecca it is today. After retiring in 1998 from a career with the US forest Service, Ray not only assists Katie in Real Estate, but is a master handyman/craftsman. He can effectively transform any space from a blank slate into an exquisite work of art. His most recent forte, in addition to Real Estate, is applying a colorful “Milestone” cement surface to floors, countertops, fireplaces, shower surrounds and more.

In an effort to keep a well balanced life, and to give their Real Estate career more meaning and purpose, Katie and Ray love to hike in the vast, gorgeous mountains surrounding Missoula, cross country ski, bicycle, swim in the rivers and lakes, garden and work on home improvements, cook, study music, collect Asian antiques, and travel. Katie thoroughly enjoys working with people, and is passionate about helping people to endeavor to create the life of their dreams. Ray excels in helping behind the scenes, locating properties for Buyers, advising on maintenance issues, studying the MLS to know fair market values, always providing enduring patience and enjoyment to the process.
